499 Client Closed Request
The client closed the connection before nginx sent a response, often while waiting on a slow upstream. Seen only in the nginx log.
What to do
The client closed the connection before nginx answered, so no response was sent. Usually the upstream was slow and the client, or a load balancer in front, timed out first. Check upstream times in the log.
- Class
- 4xx Client Error. The request has a fault, or cannot be met as sent.
- Registered
- No. nginx sends it, and it is not in the IANA registry, so other servers may mean something else by it.
